Who we are:

The Office of Undergraduate Studies at Texas A&M University encompasses nine units that provide academic programs and services to undergraduate and graduate students. Our units include the Academic Success Center, University Writing Center, Math Learning Center, LAUNCH, Public Policy Internship Program, Transition Academic Programs, The Higher Education Center at McAllen, Center for Student-Athlete Services, and Education Abroad.  While each unit serves a different target population of students, we all share the goal of enriching student learning and promoting student success.

 

What we want:

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is looking for a Student YouTube Content Creator to serve as a member of the media team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring a positive attitude as well as willingness to experiment and a strong drive to always produce a high-quality product. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Job Duties
  • Work with supervisor to create educational video content to post on YouTube and other social media channels.
  • Work with supervisor to plan video shoots by creating a shot list (often based on a script)
  • Film video content including interviews when necessary
  • Setting up and tearing down cameras, audio recorders, lighting, microphones, and props
  • Preparing background film or “B” rolls as well as live feed
  • Editing raw footage to create a final video with a cohesive look, feel, and narrative
  • Inserting closed captioning, graphics, or other on-screen text into a video
  • Adding computer graphics and special effects to a video as needed
  • Exporting final videos for use on social media and websites
 
 
Qualifications
 
  • One year of experience working on video projects in a professional or student organization setting
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere 
  • Preferred experience with Adobe After Effects and some combination of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Knowledge of video requirements for posting on social media platforms Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to work remotely if needed
  • Must be available to work during the spring, summer, and fall semesters (not including breaks)
  • Undergraduate students preferred
 

Learning Outcomes

  1. To develop their ability to add more pieces to their portfolio.
  2. To gain experience working with a team of creative people.
  3. To learn to work within a brand guide and create professional content.
  4. To improve their basic professional skills like communication, teamwork, and critical thinking.


In accordance with the federal contractor vaccination mandate, specific facilities at The Texas A&M System may be considered a covered contractor workplace with covered contractor employees. Job Duties
 
  • Work with Communications Manager to draft written content for news articles
  • On occasion, assist with other writing-related projects such as scripts, statements, email announcements, website, educational material, other material as needed
  • Interview employees and students featured in short articles
  • Perform research on different topics
  • Analyze and interpret findings from assessment and departmental reports
  • Attend media team meetings throughout the semester
 
Qualifications
 
  • Must have at least one-year experience working as a writer in a professional or student organization setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of AP style
  • Knowledge and familiarity with news media
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to work remotely if needed
  • Must be available to work during the spring, summer, and fall semesters (not including breaks)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Undergraduate students preferred

This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Job Duties:

  • Drafts written content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Schedules content to create a consistent stream of new content for audience interaction while analyzing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimize engagement
  • Engages in social media presence creation by commenting on followers’ accounts and liking/following other relevant accounts.
  • Works with media team to create dynamic written, graphic, and video content
  • Assists social media management with related projects and events
  • Has an awareness of local campus news and events and ties that into social media posts when relevant.
  • Collects analytics monthly and reports success of existing social media campaigns
  • Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content
 


Qualifications:

•    One year of experience posting social media content in a professional or volunteer setting
•    Proficient with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, Microsoft Word and Excel
•    Ability to work independently as well as within a team

This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Job Duties:

  • Drafts graphic design projects based on guidance and ideas given by supervisors
  • Has the ability to follow and implement multiple brand guides
  • Has an awareness of current design and color trends and the ability to implement them where appropriate
  • Learn new technical skills for projects as needed by watching instructional videos
  • Has the ability to produce work quickly under tight deadlines
  • Attend on-campus training workshops relevant to this job as your class schedule permits
  • Works with marketing and social media team to create dynamic written, graphic, and video content
  • Works with marketing and social media team members to brainstorm ideas for new content
  • Creates work that is original or properly cited if sources are borrowed
 


Qualifications:

•    One year of experience designing content in a professional or volunteer setting
•    Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
•    Ability to work independently as well as within a team
•    Ability to work remotely if needed 
•    Must be available to work during the spring, summer, and fall semesters (not including breaks)
